Honing Your 7 Minute Character Set (Professional Workshop)

This workshop is limited to 10 students.

The most important thing for a comedian in New York City is a polished 7 minute character set. In this workshop you will polish your 7 minute character set to stand out among the rest. Director/Producer Alan Kliffer, who has ran audition showcases for SNL, JFL and The Tonight Show guides the process, and will pinpoint specifics in improving your set.

Come with a set (which must be fully developed), and leave with a greater grasp on your approach to hitting it big. There are two classes, and one public filmed character showcase.

This course culminates in a public showcase, and you will receive a PROFESSIONAL recording of your set for submissions, included with the cost of the class.

Prerequisite: Completion of Crafting Characters course at BCC, an equivalent class, or similar experience. Every student should be coming into class with a 7-minute character set.

2-Week Workshop: Mondays, 7:00PM - 10:00 PM, July 7th and July 14th

Instructor: Alan Kliffer

Alan Kliffer has been directing and producing theater and comedy for over twenty years, with work profiled in Time Out NY. Beginning in Canada, Kliffer created various sketch troupes and began producing comedy shows at the age of 15. In Toronto, he established Kliffer Entertainment, and developed award-winning comedy shows, musicals and plays. In New York, Kliffer served as the Artistic Director of Asylum NYC in Chelsea, and helped to launch the global sensation Titanique. Kliffer produced audition showcases for SNL, JFL and The Tonight Show, and subsequently served as the Inaugural Artistic Director for The Second City New York.  Alan is currently an independent producer, and over the past year produced a tour and showcases for Stephen Brower's Palatable Gay Robot, Flop! (a two-act fully improvised musical), and has many other shows in various stages of development. @klif
