Workshop: Intro to the Improvised Documentary w/ Marcus Bishop Wright (Thursday, August 21st 2025)
Workshop limited to 16 students.
The genre of documentary is one of extremely varied styles – character studies, true crime, historical, investigative, etc. – but the basics lay in the testimonial. Using a few tropes of a familiar genre, students will learn to mix and match scene and narrative styles to craft new tapestries of storytelling and performance structures informed by elements of Best in Show and Documentary Now.
Workshop: Thursday, August 21st, 7:00pm - 10:00pm
Where: BCC Pig Pen, Studio B (130 Graham Ave)
Teacher: Marcus Bishop Wright
Bio:
Hi. I’m Marcus. I’m really just your average New Yorker with over 30 years of performing and directing experience. This mostly means I’ve spent a lot of time making up jokes and playing with puppets – more than most adults. I’ve been on numerous house improv and sketch teams at places like the UCB, the PIT, CCL and other theaters known by initials. I’ve been teaching improv and sketch for over 15 years – but I’ve been good at it for like ten of those years. Full disclosure: this is an old headshot. I’m not saying it doesn’t look like me, but I’ve definitely aged a bit, so I just want to prepare you.
Also, I’ve been on TV.
