Workshop: The Independent Film Industry: Business of Film w/ Rachael Labes (Saturday, August 16th)

$40.00

Are you a filmmaker or aspiring filmmaker looking to break into the film biz? BCC presents our first workshop on the independent film industry from an experienced junior executive, Rachael Labes. You’ll learn the ins and outs of film acquisitions and have an opportunity to pitch your feature and receive feedback.

This workshop will include:

  • an overview of independent film acquisitions and distribution

  • an in-depth look at the life cycle of a film from ideation to distribution and beyond

  • an “acquisitions bible” of terms to know and key elements that distributors focus on when considering a film for acquisition

  • the creative elements that go into crafting a strong script and film. While much of the workshop will focus on the business of film, unique and personable storytelling is at the heart of everything we do.

The class will culminate in an interactive session in which participants will have the opportunity to pitch their short or feature film project and receive feedback, followed by a Q&A. You will leave this workshop with a deeper understanding of the business side of filmmaking and a road map for how to successfully navigate your future endeavors in the film industry.

Date: Saturday, August 16th. 3-6:00 PM. BCC DogHouse, Studio #2 (137 Montrose Ave, Brooklyn NY 11206).
