Workshop: Producing A Show

25.00

Producing can be hard. As part of our mission to promote professional performance at the BCC, this interactive workshop will make it easier by giving you concrete steps to take, from inception to closing night, based on Philip's experience building and running The Annoyance Theatre NY, The BCC, and independently producing hundreds of shows worldwide. We will cover the nitty-gritty details, such as initially pitching the show and finding a home for it, marketing to specific outlets/email lists/press, designing appealing websites and posters and branding, using social media in an engaging way, writing a solid press release, inviting industry to your show, empowering your cast to help promote, offering incentives that actually bring in the public, and asking your friends for help without being an asshole. We will also cover the elements that go into creating a successful show experience, such as finding a unique voice and theme specific to you, casting and booking, managing hierarchies and roles, rehearsal and show etiquette, and keeping a show fresh in an extended run. You will leave this workshop with actionable tools and a road map for how to create and produce a work of live theater.

Tues, April 3, 7:00-10:00 PM
